Peaks in the park can range as high as about 6,000 ft.

High surrounding terrain, and variable local conditions can make CYXP a challenging spot to land. Severe turbulence can occur in the relatively narrow fiord.  Nunavut/Arctic weather manual has detailed information about Pangnirtung weather.

Pangnirtung - CYXP

In Inuktitut, Panniqtuuq means the “place of bull caribou”.  Located near  the entrance of Auyuittuq National Park, the scenery is spectacular.  If you’ve seen the opening sequence in the James Bond movie “The Spy Who Loved Me”, you’ve seen Mt. Asgard in the Park. Pangnirtung is worth a stop on any Eastern Arctic trip.  Flying into CYXP can be tricky,  as weather and winds in the Fiord can be unpredictable. But if conditions are right, it is great.
