Northern Domestic Airspace:

Canadian Domestic Airspace is divided into two regions, geographically; Southern and Northern.

If you're flying to Iqaluit, Nunavut, you'll notice that we're in a little bubble of Southern Domestic Airspace, so runway headings, tracks, etc. are given in degrees magnetic. The same is true for Kimmirut, about 65nm west of Iqaluit. For all other travel in South Baffin, and for travel in the rest of Nunavut, everything's done in degrees True. Inside Northern Domestic Airspace, True Track is used for determining cruising altitude for direction of flight, rather than Magnetic Track.

There's about a 32 degree West variation between True and Magnetic at Iqaluit, so one needs to be aware of this when planning flights from Iqaluit to Cape Dorset, Pangnirtung or elsewhere in the region.
